Shredder 46
“Yes, I did, didn’t I?” Anibel said, her ghostly finger tapping against her translucent lips in thought, “How much time has passed since we spoke at the attack site, Gerard?”
Gerard gave it a moment’s thought, then said, “Almost a second sun since we last spoke.”
Anibel smirked and shook her head. “I’m not sure if the divining methods I envisioned will still be sound. The magics will likely have dissipated beyond reasonable tracking methods.”
“Nuts,” Gerard said, “I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone. I guess we’ll just have to–”
The ground trembled. Debris rained down from the alcove ceiling for a few moments and dust motes filled the chamber. Merinde cast a harried glance at Gerard as the world stopped shaking.
“Not normal,” the Halfling replied, “We should move.”
As Gerard and Merinde hastened to the descent, Anibel said, “I’ll meet you below.” Without further concourse, she vanished with a wisp of tendrils.
“We’re it only so easy for all of us,” Gerard said with a chuckle, “Do you want to go first.”
Merinde shook her head. “You know the way. You lead.”
Without another word, the lithe Ranger disappeared into the stony rift.
