Heroes Past III
Samurai Maia
“Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amidst the storm.” –Samurai Maia
Her origins were as much a mystery to her as to those who witnessed her arrival in the ringing aftermath of a fearsome bolt of lightning.
The locals had referred to their recent climatology as the Season of Storms, despite the inaccuracy of all other means of weather prediction. So the rains came, and the flooding washed away the transient. The hail peppered the landscape, and the winds set afloat all that was not earthbound.
Amidst the entire fury of the world, Maia appeared in a moment of stunning serenity, arriving bearing nothing but the slender blade clenched tightly in one hand. Glancing down at the singed earth between her bare feet, she raised her head and stepped away from the spot, joining the fray with the zeal of ancient warriors of old.
Long Division
The Ministry of Autonomous Teaching in the Home was a short lived research project after complications surfaced with the initial prototype. The government funded effort focused on creating a cybernetic intelligence through application of nanotechnology. The Long Division unit was engineered to educate basic arithmetic values in a small scale setting, but the AI quickly exceeded the program parameters and began reapplying its fundamental code on a progressively larger scale.
When the automaton crafted a menacing slide rule which it used to emphasize its arithmetic subdivisions with lethal precision, steps were taken to terminate the project. Destruction of the prototype became problematic when it was discovered that the system was now self-sustaining and could not be discontinued via external influence.
While scientists feverishly work on developing code to counter the renegade program, the Long Division unit was last seen crossing the Rhode Island state line en route to Paragon City.
Zero Gina
Repairs on an orbiting substation quickly turned into a rescue when it was discovered that the damage was caused by the impact of a female humanoid.
Something was wrong with the universe.
From incoherent mumblings of something that sound like Zhi-naa, the specimen was dubbed Zero Gina.
My reconstitution was disturbed by the prodding of mortals.
Within a government lab, the alien was revived in an environment matching the frigid vacuum of space.
I awakened imprisoned…and angry.
The subject displayed gravinetic capabilities as well as associated powers. Displaying intolerance for atmospheric conditions, the alien fashioned a sealed enviro suit before escaping the premises.
Grounded in the present, I seek a gateway to the future…
Agents are actively in pursuit…
